Exploring the potential of perceived waste

Maize has become a staple food in many parts of the world, with the total production surpassing that of wheat or rice. It is responsible for roughly six percent of human calorie intake and currently accounts for more than ten percent of all global crop production.

Numerous parts of the plant are seen as waste depending on their context but could be incorporated into a circular economy as they offer a myriad of qualities and alongside that many beneficial possibilities.

Misplaced explores the unused potential of this well-known plant by adding little to no other biodegradable materials, displaying a variety of material properties in form of samples, as well as a bag made from 99% waste collected from a local market.
